Tumbling

Our twice-weekly, one-hour tumbling classes are designed to provide structured, high-quality instruction for athletes of all levels. Students progress through skill-based training that begins with foundational movements—such as rolls, cartwheels, and handstands—and advances to more complex techniques, including handsprings and flips.

Tumbling classes meet twice weekly (Monday and Wednesday) for 1 hour.

Beginning A (Recommended Ages: 5–9)
• Fall Schedule Times: Monday & Wednesday: 3:45–4:45; 4:50–5:50; 5:55–6:55
• Experience Level: Beginner
• Athletes will learn and master foundational tumbling skills:
     – Handstand
     – Cartwheel
     – Standing Round Off
     – Forward, Backward, and Straddle Roll
     – Handstand to Bridge
     – Bridge from Standing Position
• Athletes are ready to move up once they can consistently perform these skills with proper form.

Beginning B (Recommended Ages: 5-9)
• Fall Schedule Times: Monday & Wednesday: 3:45–4:45; 4:50–5:50; 5:55–6:55
Beginning B+ (Recommended Ages: 10+)*Because older athletes generally pick up beginning skills faster, they may enroll in Beg B+, even if they haven’t mastered all of the prerequisites.
• Fall Schedule Times: Monday & Wednesday: 3:45–4:45; 4:50–5:50
• Must be able to perform the following skills with proper technique to enroll: Handstand, Cartwheel, Standing Round Off, Forward and Backwards Rolls, Handstand into Bridge, Bridge from Standing Position.
• Athletes will learn and master the following tumbling skills:
     – Bridge Kickover
     – Bad Leg Cartwheel
     – Back Walkover
     – Dive Cartwheel
     – Running Round Off Rebound
     – Handstand to Bridge Stand-Up
     – Back Extension Roll Prep (Backward Roll into push up position)
• Athletes are ready to move up once they can consistently perform these skills with proper form.

Intermediate A (Recommended Ages: 5-9)
• Fall Schedule Times: Monday & Wednesday: 3:45–4:45; 4:50–5:50; 5:55–6:55
Intermediate A+ (Recommended Ages: 10+)
• Fall Schedule Times: Monday & Wednesday: 4:50–5:50; 5:55–6:55
• Must be able to perform the following skills with proper technique to enroll: Back Walkover, Dive Cartwheel; Running Round Off Rebound, Handstand into Bridge Stand Up, Back Extension Roll Prep (Backward Roll into push up position)
• Athletes will learn and master the following tumbling skills:
     – Back Handspring
     – Back Walkover-Back Handspring
     – Running Round off Back Handspring
     – Running Round Off Back Handspring Step-Out
     – Front Walkover
     – Dive Roll
     – Power Hurdle Round Off Back Handspring
• Athletes are ready to move up once they can consistently perform these skills with proper form.

Intermediate B (Recommended Ages: Any)
• Fall Schedule Times: Monday & Wednesday: 3:45–4:45; 4:50–5:50
• Must be able to perform the following skills with proper technique to enroll: Back Walkover- Back Handspring, Dive Cartwheel, Front Walkover, Power Hurdle Round Off Back Handspring, Dive Roll, Back Extension Roll Down Cheese Mat
• Athletes will learn and master the following tumbling skills:
     – Standing Back Handspring Series
     – Running and Power Hurdle Round Off Back Handspring Series
     – Back Handspring Step-In Back Handspring Series
     – Introduce Punch Front Flips
     – Introduce Aerials
     – Back Extension Roll on floor
• Athletes are ready to move up once they can consistently perform these skills with proper form.

Advanced (Recommended Ages: Any)
• Fall Schedule Times: Monday & Wednesday: 3:45–4:45; 4:50–5:50
• Must be able to perform the following skills with proper technique to enroll: Standing Series Back Handsprings, Power Hurdle Round Off Back Handspring Series, Back Handspring Step-in Back Handspring Series, Dive Roll, Dive Cartwheel
• Athletes will learn and master the following tumbling skills:
     – Aerial off of Panel Mat Independently
     – Punch Front on Air Floor
     – Running Round Off Series Back Tuck
     – Power Hurdle Round Off Back Tuck
     – Combination Skills Pass
     – Valdez
• Athletes are ready to move up once they can consistently perform these skills with proper form.

Elite (Recommended Ages: Any)
• Fall Schedule Times: Monday & Wednesday: 3:45–4:45; 5:55–6:55
• Must be able to perform the following skills with proper technique to enroll: Aerial off of Panel Mat Independently, Punch Front on Air Floor, Running Round Off Series Back Tuck
• Athletes will learn and master the following tumbling skills:
     – Cartwheel Step in Back Tuck
     – Punch Front on Spring Floor
     – Standing Back Tuck
     – Standing Back Handspring Back Tuck
     – Running Round Off Backhandspring Layout
     – Running Round Off Backhandspring X-Out
     – Running Round off Backhandspring Full Twist
     – Front Aerial
     – Side Aerial
